Gnishik Eco Lodge

The remote mountain location is calm and 100% nature. The property is more like a guest house with rooms that have and lack bathrooms. The kitchen is well equipped. The remote area requires a car, and it was a bit complicated to return to Yerevan. There is no infrastructure around—no shops, no restaurants.

“Thanks for having us - hopefully will come to stay again in the future :)”

The lodge staff put a huge effort into welcoming us and making sure we were ready for the night. Check‑in was flexible, which we really appreciated because we were a bit late after hiking. Initially there was an odd hot‑water issue, but it was fixed within a couple of hours and then it was great! I would definitely stay again. The floor was very cold, so bring slippers.

The mountain view is impressive. Dogs bark at night, and the place is very isolated. The first restaurant is a 30‑minute drive away.

“Une très belle initiative dans un paysage magnifique mais avec un service à améliorer”

The location was perfect and quiet with beautiful scenery. Norik and Naira were helpful, but only if you speak Armenian or Russian. Most importantly, we had the house all to ourselves. We were disappointed by the lack of clarity on Booking about the meals offered. We also received a call from the person in charge who confirmed he could provide breakfast, but the price was very high compared to what was actually served. It would have been better to warn us about a modest breakfast with a suitable price. During that brief phone exchange, the manager had nothing to say except to make sure we paid for the night immediately instead of the next day, which felt like a rough reception. Also, while the house is lovely, sharing it with other guests is something to anticipate, especially because in the heat only the airflow between the upstairs rooms can let you sleep well. Finally, the garden has no furniture except the adjacent summer kitchen, and information about the area would have been welcome; the balconies are nice but lack furniture. There are no corner lamps, blackout curtains (in the largest room), and the small beds, including a boat bed, are missing. In short, the largest room, which is very bright and more expensive, is not the most comfortable, which is a shame (we chose it and had to switch to a more pleasant one without a price reduction). Overall, a beautiful place but the service needs improvement!

“Lovely place in a stunning location”

Gnishik sits right at the end of the road; you can't go further, but the Eco Lodge makes the trip worth it. The man who let us in and handed us the keys was very friendly and helpful, and pre‑arrival communication was excellent. It was clear that the location was remote and that we’d need to bring our own food and drinks. That worked fine, and the shared kitchen was very well equipped. We had a lovely en‑suite room upstairs with great views from the balcony, especially of the beautiful rose garden in the back. We were lucky to have the whole place to ourselves. The bed was comfortable and the shower hot. There was a Wi‑Fi glitch early in the evening, but it was quickly fixed and worked well for browsing and emails, though not good enough for streaming. We parked in the driveway in front of the Lodge, and there were no security concerns. If you get the chance to visit, we strongly recommend it. The drive south from Lake Sevan is truly spectacular. The last few kilometres of road were pot‑holed and slow, but perfectly accessible if you drive slowly. All in all, a wonderful place to enjoy nature and relax, and we loved our visit. Very highly recommended. Because of past issues with other bookings, we messaged before arrival to confirm they accept credit cards (as listed online) and the answer was “cash only.” We made sure to bring enough cash, but it could have been a problem if we hadn’t checked. The mention of credit cards should really be removed from the online details.
