“二度は来ないかな。”
Breakfast was good for the price. The station is close, but many uphill roads and no shuttle made travel quite tough. The hotel staff hardly greeted us. Inside the room, the hot water was weak, making the shower difficult.

The food was tasty, but there were few souvenirs.

The staff were working hard with new ideas. No particular complaints.

Being close to the hot spring made it easy to stroll around Kusatsu. Even though the building is old, the rooms had been renovated, the tatami in the Japanese‑style room was clean and the overall cleanliness gave a tidy feel. The parking was far away, and while a shuttle was available, it stopped running after 7 pm. The bus leaves every 30 minutes from the sister hotel, so depending on the timing you might wait a short or long time. The ceiling in the first‑floor restroom was covered in mold, which was unpleasant.

The hotel sits close to the hot spring, and the buffet was a nice touch, especially the wristband rubber that felt surprisingly good. However, because it’s a self‑service property, I found it hard to get help – no staff were around to guide me when I wandered or paused. The shuttle only ran until 11:15 am, so it would have been better if it stayed until 1 pm (perhaps due to labor costs, but still disappointing). After watching the bath‑mixing show and picking souvenirs, the return bus was gone and I had to walk about 20 minutes to the parking lot.
