La Métairie - Guesthouse

The house is amazing, and the host, Olivier, is fantastic! It sits inside a national park, and on the drive you can spot flamingos, beavers, lots of birds and fish—truly a wildlife reserve. Olivier’s house is spacious, with several rooms for guests and for the owners. There’s a pool, a relaxation zone, and a barbecue area. We stayed in a first‑floor room with modern design and a very comfortable, large contemporary bathroom. The bed was convenient! Breakfast blew everything out of the water, personally prepared by Olivier himself—freshly baked croissants, chocolate buns, baguette, yogurts, homemade jam, and freshly squeezed juice! Olivier greets guests and chatters about the house and travels. Breakfast takes place in a cozy, homely setting in the living room, overlooking the lake and the garden. In short, it’s a wonderful place and host; we’ll recommend it to friends and hope to return ourselves! Thanks, Olivier, and good luck!

“Ruhige Oase in der Nähe vom Atlantik”

We had a great large room with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was also large and clean, the shower perfect. There was a covered kitchen in the garden that all guests could use. We also had a kettle and a coffee machine in the room. The landlord lives in the house and whips up a wonderful breakfast every morning with local products and partly homemade jam and freshly squeezed orange juice on the terrace. The accommodation is completely quiet in a large garden with various seating and lying options. The pool is a welcome cool‑down after a day of sightseeing. In about 15 minutes by car you’re at the beach, where you can even park for free in some spots. We were the only guests most of the time and felt at home quickly. Olivier and his dog Watson were very helpful and attentive, but always in the background. You definitely need a car. After Orx it’s 2 km, there’s a restaurant, but in early September it was no longer open every day. Just a note: this is a guest house, not a hotel. The room was not cleaned during our 9‑day stay, but Olivier offered new towels and bedding halfway through. Because of the age of the house, our room smelled a bit musty at first. That went away after a few days of airing out. The pool lounge chairs were a bit damp at night, but that didn’t bother us because we always put a towel on them.

We had a nice room and a very clean pool, the setting was quiet and the property is in a nature reserve, and the host was very friendly and helpful.

The location was immersed in nature, the environment was calm and relaxing, Olivier was always available, the breakfast was good and varied, and a bit more attention to the cleanliness of the outdoor areas would have made the place even better.
