“Das Hotel ist völlig inakzeptabel!!!”
The cleanliness was acceptable, but I was shocked by what I experienced here in Gummersbach and cannot recommend it. I’ve been self‑employed for 18 years, travel frequently for work, and am a Genius member, yet what happened during my stay left me horrified. My request for proper bed linen met no willingness to help at first, and only later did they try to fix it—though they said I was already in bed and would see what else they could do for me. As a guest, I felt I was merely bothering them with my concerns. Though I booked a double room for single use, I was assigned a single room. When I pointed this out, they said a double could only be provided for an extra fee—or I could leave. My subsequent request for a free cancellation so I could find another place was denied. The handling of the over‑booked and paid breakfast was also strange: it was presented as a house gift, and I was told emphatically that breakfast was only available until 8:30 am, which felt unwelcoming for a business trip. The room did not match my booking at all and looked very outdated. The broken shower door had been replaced with a makeshift shower curtain, and black residue on the silicone seams looked moldy. Overall, the attitude was arrogant, dismissive, and highly unprofessional. Hospitality, to me, means taking legitimate concerns seriously and working together to find solutions, and that was sorely missing. This stay was a huge disappointment, and I would not book here again.
