The staff and facilities were good, and they were very helpful and everything was well kept, but the person in the adjoining room was very loud from 12.30 to 3.30 am, banging on walls and doors while apparently intoxicated, and we kept being woken up, so I wouldn’t recommend it if you want a good night's sleep.

The bedrooms were well laid out with single beds (not bunk beds) and central heating (ex Thermal), giving almost private space, though it didn’t help the firm’s viability. The owner wouldn’t issue a GST invoice, claiming it was paid overseas and that he would have to pay GST on it, even though he agreed that a cash payment at the office would require it; he should at least provide an invoice for the share of the room rate received from BBH. All I wanted was the owner’s GST number to add to my BBH booking receipt amount. This is a major issue that seems to be the responsibility of BBH to ensure all businesses on its listing issue GST receipts or risk delisting. Otherwise everyone should contact the IRD to clarify the rules and enforce compliance. Sincerely, Michael Orchard.

There was nothing positive, and the place was not safe for families, especially with kids.

I liked the location, but the hygiene was awful: ants, beetles, spiders in the room, dirty sheets and blankets, windows and doors that clanged whenever the wind blew at night, and the corridor bathrooms were covered in spider webs—overall a messy, old‑fashioned place. The male owner was extremely rude; once he heard we were Chinese, he became aggressive, impatient, and even threatened us while trying to “teach us a lesson.” The trip was ruined by this place, and I can’t understand how it’s still open.
