A ver o mar rooms‑Funchal city center offers bright rooms with balconies overlooking mountains and cityscape, plus a sun terrace and free Wi‑Fi. Amenities include a lounge, lift, shared kitchen, laundry service, dishwasher, washing machine, work desk, outdoor seating and games room. Situated 20 km from Cristiano Ronaldo Airport, it’s a short walk to Almirante Reis Beach, Marina do Funchal, the Cathedral of Funchal and Madeira Botanical Garden.

The location is perfect, the kitchen has everything you need, and my favorite part was the huge terrace with a nice view. There is some noise from cars on the street, so bring earplugs. Everything felt clean, but I still saw a few cockroaches in the kitchen. The windows are supposed to stay closed at all times, so the smell in the entire apartment isn’t great; it would be nice to have some fresh air in the common rooms to socialize with others.

The balcony was huge and open, but the street traffic and steep road made it noisy.

Good location. Terrace overlooking Funchal and a very spacious lounge. The antique décor combined with poor lighting in the room and hallway gives the place a somewhat unsettling look. When we arrived, the bathroom was not clean at all, and during our stay we also spotted a couple of cockroach‑like insects. We stayed for a full week and never received any cleaning service, nor were we given any cleaning supplies or a towel change. Overall, the property has potential: with some hygiene and maintenance improvements, the guest experience could be much better. It’s a shame, because the place isn’t bad at its core.

The accommodation is well‑situated with a large terrace offering a magnificent view. We had access to a washing machine and a drying rack. The beds were comfortable and the furniture charming. The shared kitchen became a place for chats with the other people sharing the apartment. We liked the personalized bins in the kitchen for storing our food and the recycling and compost system. Additionally, our host provided a web link with plenty of useful information for our stay. Early on, we struggled with the key to the apartment’s front door. We would have appreciated having cleaning supplies for the bathroom and shared areas, especially the kitchen. Since several people share the apartment, sometimes guests don’t always clean up after themselves. The floor can quickly become dirty from our socks. The dining table chairs need to be replaced or at least repaired.
