Hotel Castel Gandolfo, a charming 4-star hotel, overlooks Lake Albano in the Castelli Romani hills above Rome. Its private terrace offers beautiful lake views. Rooms, either overlooking the town or lake, are air-conditioned with LCD TVs and private bathrooms. The hotel is near the Pope's summer residence, 30 minutes from Rome, and offers discounted golf rates at the nearby Castel Gandolfo Country Club.

The building is beautiful, clean, and welcoming, with an excellent location in the town centre and a breathtaking lake view. The breakfast was also great and well supplied. The staff were very kind and helpful. Nothing to criticize.

Having breakfast with a lake view was wonderful, and the staff were extremely polite. Nothing to add.

Comfortable and centrally located with helpful staff. Breakfast was somewhat uncomfortable: too much sun, wasps, overly salty eggs… and there was noise from neighbors.

The room was comfortable, welcoming and spotlessly clean, and the real highlight was the lake view from the window—absolutely breathtaking, a view that alone justifies the price of the stay. The TV was a nice bonus, but the real beauty lay outside the window. I would highly recommend it. The only downside was that the safe didn’t work; we didn’t push the staff to reset it because we didn’t really need it, but it’s a detail that needs fixing.
