“A magical place”
This guesthouse was truly stunning. I usually stick to hotels, but when that option isn’t available, I book apartments; guesthouses are usually my last resort, yet I’d definitely choose this lovely house again. When I arrived, the two owners welcomed me warmly and explained the house rules, all sensible. They showed me how to set up my futon bed, which was super comfortable, and reminded me how to wear the yukata. They also handed me a map and explained the different onsens in town. My private room was huge and beautiful, equipped with a mirror, hangers, and air‑con. The sinks and toilet were just outside my door, so very convenient. The shower was downstairs (I used it once), but I soon realized that if you go from onsen to onsen, you’ll be showering in the public baths. I was a solo traveler and always felt safe in Japan, but in this guesthouse I felt looked after. There was a warmth I can’t quite explain. No negatives.
