We stayed at Hotel Torre di Bellosguardo for one night, and the experience was far below what we expected, especially given the £500‑plus price. We arrived during the check‑in time, but no one was at reception and we waited about 15 minutes before someone appeared. When we finally checked in, there was no introduction or tour of the property, and we received no useful information about breakfast, Wi‑Fi, how to contact reception, or available facilities. The room itself was disappointing for a hotel at this price. The shower seemed blocked, and it took about 20 minutes for hot water to flow. We reported the issue, but the response felt indifferent rather than apologetic or concerned. There was no tea or coffee in the room, no minibar, and no basic amenities such as an iron (even when we asked the front desk). The hotel has no restaurant, and breakfast the next morning was another poor experience. Service was minimal; tables were dirty, and when a staff member finally appeared, we asked if he could clean the table we wanted to sit at. He replied, “Aren’t there other tables open?”—a surprising answer and far below the hospitality level expected from a hotel charging these rates. No one explained that we could order coffee or eggs at breakfast; we only discovered this by asking. This summed up most of our stay: very little information, attention, or proactive service. We also read that the bar was open 24 hours, yet in the morning there was nobody by the pool when we wanted towels or to order something simple like a bottle of water. The property undoubtedly has beautiful views over Florence, and the setting is probably its greatest strength.
