The spot on the Pennine Way was great and the staff were fantastic, especially after the booking mix‑up. However, the pub had changed hands, had no record of my reservation, so I had to pay them directly and it was really hard to get my money back, which makes me hesitant to stay again.

The staff were very helpful and apologetic, but they couldn’t fix the fact that the showers were cold after a day out on the PW; no hot water was a real problem.

The hotel was closed when I arrived, so the booking was taken while the place was shut.

I received a text 15 minutes before arrival that the room was cancelled because of a leak, which was nonsense because a local in the village had already told me they were renovating and the place was shut before my arrival. This could have ruined my event the next morning, and they should have informed me earlier that the room was unavailable – totally unacceptable!
