MyFarm – Nema Kunku, an educational centre in Ker Dobaly, Gambia, blends learning with leisure. Myfarm is a permaculture site rich in resources, focused on supporting education in Gambia rather than typical tourism; you can stay there or join in building, teaching, maintenance, or gardening if you wish, with no pressure. The community is wonderful and collaborative. The only downside is that Wi‑Fi is only available in one spot, not in the rooms, so bring a local SIM if you need a connection.

MyFarm isn’t just a place to sleep; it’s full of life, with birdsong in the mornings and the chance to join the team for breakfast and chat about daily life. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, and the setting offers free education to nearby residents. I ended up volunteering in the various programs and loved every minute, realizing I’d gotten far more than a cheap social stay. I’ll definitely return as a volunteer.
