The spot is great, everything is solid and the host is amazing and helpful. The only beach access is a 100‑meter walk, but the resort owner wouldn’t let my family pass through, insisting we go the other side of the beach, even calling guards to keep us away and accusing the male kids of drinking and smoking marijuana, even though she never actually saw or smelled us.

We got a great deal as a group of eight. The dorm‑style room with eight beds fit us perfectly, and we appreciated being able to cook our own meals in the kitchen. The dirt road is easy to miss; the driver struggled to find the guesthouse and the highway signs were not obvious.

We were met with a friendly smile and a warm welcome from the Airbnb caretaker, who introduced herself (though I forgot her name) and showed us around the property. She’s very accommodating, and the place was clean and well maintained; at the end of our stay she handed us a few coconuts as a kind treat. A few issues cropped up: the refrigerator and the microwave were broken. I told the caretaker, who promised to report the faults to the owner.

Jovelyn is a super hostess who helped us sort out local problems from booking tricycles to haggling over prices. She and her husband run a lovely French Bistro near Alona Beach, where we enjoyed lunch and bakery items. The house sits close to South Palms Beach, one of Panglao’s best seaside stretches, where we watched beautiful sunsets and sunrises. The location is a bit remote—about 10 minutes from Alona Beach and lacking a clear landmark—so you might have to ask tricycle drivers for directions, many of whom don’t use Google Maps.
