The design is nicely executed, comfortable and pleasant, but the property is starting to show its age and some easily fixed issues are being ignored. On the rear balcony, the passageway is littered with rubbish; the restaurant gentleman’s toilet is leaking heavily; our room lost a bedside light and black mould is growing in the shower. These aren’t showstoppers, yet they detract from the intended quality. Breakfast and the evening meal were disappointing: the friendly server missed serving some guests and made mistakes with the buffet, pastries were at least a day old, and the main courses—uncooked cabbage, inedible beef pies, and other problems—were quite unpleasant. Shame.

The location is right in the heart of town, but the bar prices are a bit steep.

The room was quiet with a good view, and the restaurant food was decent. Carrying my bags up the stairs was a bit of a workout, but it kept me fit.

“Fantastic holiday great staff and great food but please sort the parking”

Victoria Hotel sits in a great spot and all the staff are welcoming and friendly; nothing feels like a hassle and they work together as a team, giving us a really good experience that makes us want to return. The only downside is the parking: locals seem to think it’s fine to park their cars at the hotel while they shop, and no one does anything about it, so when you come back after a day out there’s nowhere to park; you end up in a paid car park, which would only be acceptable if it were clearly marked as resident parking and no residents actually parked there.

We’d recommend every part of the stay—location, views, food, cleanliness, service. We’ve been here before and will definitely come back again! There’s nothing to fault; we’ve been very satisfied every time.
