The location, service, cleanliness, and comfort were good. I was surprised that breakfast wasn’t included in the room rate, and the separate breakfast price was very high.
“Padrão Ibis de qualidade”
The Ibis’s location was fine. The room was only half clean, we found a bedbug and hair remains in the bathroom, someone had shaved in the sink and shower, and it wasn’t cleaned properly. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this level of cleanliness at an Ibis, so it feels like a standard of quality.
“Excelente”
The room was great.
“Não é ruim, mas não vale o preço cobrado pela diária. O valor cobrado puxa a avaliação pra baixo.”
I was in the heart of Rio, right in the Centro, which made the location a clear win for me, especially since I was close to all the tourist spots, personal interests and work places. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room size was adequate for a solo traveler. The bathroom was spacious, with a roomy sink and hot water that heated quickly. The a la carte dishes were tasty and reasonably priced, and the presentation was good. On the downside, the room’s upkeep had slipped: the cleaning felt superficial, the safe and phone were dusty, which is a big issue for someone with allergies. The mattress was very hard, the blankets thin, and there was no blanket available. The wooden bathroom fixtures were visibly rotting from water exposure, and the walls had stains and mold signs. The Wi‑Fi was slow and dropped often, so I had to switch to my mobile data. The shower was ceiling‑mounted, which might bother those who don’t want to get their hair wet; the shower box was small and the flush pressure could be better, plus there was no little “shower” next to the toilet. The room phone was practically useless because the hotel doesn’t offer room service, so to eat you had to go downstairs, and the reception and kitchen took a long time to answer. I called for a minute and was told I’d have to go down. The breakfast was disappointing for the price; it felt more like a roadside convenience store than a hotel breakfast, with limited fruit options and not all items were tasty. The coffee was machine‑made, and there were only a few cake choices.
The location was excellent. The room was clean and functional. The daily rate is a bit high.
