Hôtel Derby Eiffel

The location is excellent – very safe, clean, close to a bus stop and plenty of shops, and the Eiffel Tower is within walking distance. I’d highly recommend it. The rooms are a bit small, but that’s Paris.

The only positive was the location – metro stations and shops were quick to reach, and the staff were nice and kept the room clean. We paid over 1,300 euros for four nights, and the value for money was a sham. For that price I expected a certain standard that was not met at all. The room was relatively small, breakfast wasn’t included, and the advertised Eiffel Tower view was far less impressive than expected. On arrival the whole room smelled extremely of chlorine; even with the window open all night it took almost two days for the smell to fade, which is a lot for someone who cleans with chlorine. The wall fan was broken and apparently held together with tape, and the second fan didn’t work properly either. The air‑conditioner was especially scary – it was constantly loud, smelled bad, and barely blew air even at the highest setting. The tiny elevator was also problematic, not always reliable.

The staff were friendly, the room was clean, and the location was good. However, the view of the Eiffel Tower could have been better for the price.

The area next to the Eiffel Tower was great, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the rooms were very clean, and the breakfasts were tasty.
