Excellent service and location.
Everything is fine, I recommend it. The jacuzzi was not working.
The air‑conditioner worked reliably at night, which I appreciated because of the unbearable heat/humidity in Cartagena. It’s only on at night, though! The common area is very nice and they offer laundry service, towels, and breakfast at a reasonable price. Cleanliness was quite good for a hostel. The little bed “cabins” were spacious enough to fit a lot of stuff and had an extra lockable storage option, which I liked. Some staff are very friendly, others act as if they’re doing me a personal favour. What’s that attitude? In a city as touristic as Cartagena, with many international visitors, I expect at least a few words of English. Some spoke or tried their best, others couldn’t be bothered. The room doors were being painted while I was there; a simple notice would have been nice. I got paint on my hands several times when opening the door, and it dried very slowly. Work in the kitchen was also ongoing, so we couldn’t use the sink in between—again, a notice would help. They have only one fridge for everyone’s food, which can get too full.

I was very well attended! The included breakfast is tasty and generous! The dorm is very private with an individual space that feels more like a mini‑room, with a canopy/curtain that gives total privacy. The location is excellent! In the heart of the most beautiful tourist spots, in a safe place with easy access to everything! I loved it!

The Sanctuary offers wonderful accommodations, a very private bed, a bathroom inside and outside the rooms, good cleanliness, satisfactory coffee, and a location near Getsemani and the historic center. They provide iron for free and towels for 6 000 pesos for the whole period. The cold water for showers, no hair dryer, and the hydro was not working were the only negatives.
