I could enjoy the early ryokan vibe, and the hot spring was great, offering both a public pool and a private pool. The morning scenery was beautiful. The tatami room should have at least a thin mattress; otherwise, just a blanket on the tatami makes it hard to sleep, so those who care about sleep should note that. The bathroom might be a WWII relic, which could surprise you upon arrival. The AC isn't very cool.
I found a practical, no‑fuss bathhouse tucked into the mountain. The quiet spot isn't far from the main road, there's a cute outdoor hot spring bath to soak in, and a patio to hang out and enjoy the mountain view. Just down the hill is a breakfast shop. Great value for a 1‑2‑night getaway. The facilities are pretty bare bones and not up to date. The minerals in the hot spring water at this location turn the bathtub a rust color, otherwise everything is clean.
