“Cozy, comfortable and logistically simply.”

We enjoyed our stay in a cozy room. Breakfast was delicious and the coffee was hot enough for my wife (just below boiling). The bathroom was clean and functional. The vinyl records were a nice touch. The bathroom fan was loud and would turn on automatically with the light; understandable given the building’s age, but note that the walls aren’t insulated and basic conversations can be heard from the room next door. Luckily our neighbors weren’t night owls, so sleeping was fine. Location is good—just two blocks from Broadway, but stores and restaurants are limited. The floor is old and squeaky, adding some charm.

“A nice try but a horrible building makes this unimprovable”

The room was pretty well equipped, with high‑quality toiletries and linens. The Wi‑Fi worked well, and there was a nice seating area outside the room. However, despite the owners’ efforts to improve the property with better toiletries and linens, the building is fundamentally horrible—very run down and not matching the pictures. The rooms are noisy, and the hotel fronts an active street, with additional noise from within the building due to its age and wooden floors. The property sits in an ugly part of town, which is telling since Kingston isn’t great overall, so being in an especially ugly area says a lot. The included “breakfast,” a bag delivered outside our room with a couple of pastries and a thermos of coffee, was a joke—we told them not to bother on the second day.

“Bait and switch. Website description is not truthful”

The room was tidy and set up nicely, but there was no breakfast—just protein bars and a Nespresso machine, which made the price feel inflated. There were no services offered, so the hotel felt like a bait‑and‑switch; the pictures promised croissants and coffee, yet the reality was only protein bars and a DIY Nespresso setup.

The location and room décor were great, but the room didn't smell fresh and some pillows had a tired scent. Breakfast was missing on the second day, and there was no place to dispose of recyclables. The front desk was unresponsive both upon arrival and on the second day, and the breakfast bag lacked a tea bag even though I had requested tea instead of coffee in the pre‑registration form.

“Lovely Inn in the Hudson Valley”

The Kingston Carriage House was clean and unique, with fun and distinctive décor. The room was very comfortable, and the inn’s location was excellent. The only drawback was that there was no shower in the room.
