“Accommodation is ok, but very controlling and discriminatory hosts.”

The accommodation itself was okay and the value for money was good, plus the location was close to the beach, which was nice. However, I had a mixed experience overall. I stayed three nights without any issues, but some of the owner's behavior made me uncomfortable. Once, a friend dropped me off in front of the accommodation and briefly greeted the friend who was staying with me. My friend didn’t enter the property, yet I later received a message from the owner saying visitors were not allowed. That felt unnecessarily intrusive, especially since the interaction happened outside. Even more concerning, when I asked to extend my stay by one night and mentioned that a different friend would be staying with me, the owner asked whether my friend was Sri Lankan or foreign. When I answered Sri Lankan, the owner said they could not accommodate Sri Lankan guests. This kind of discrimination is simply not acceptable.

“Best Internet and Breakfast. Value for money”

The internet here was hands down the best during our entire Sri Lanka stay; Sri Lankan internet is usually awful, but at this place it was far better than elsewhere, allowing me to finally back up all my videos on Google Photos. The breakfast was the best we had, with quality and presentation that outshone other breakfasts we’d tried. The décor was really nice, making it one of the best homestays I’ve seen. In Sri Lanka, finding a PickMe tuk‑tuk can be tough if there’s no stand nearby, but this house’s location was good, so we had no trouble finding one. The host was great and handled everything on her own, so we didn’t bother her much. The washroom, however, was not up to par and was a bit smelly all the time; if the rooms are 10/10, the washroom would be 6/10.

I’m so grateful to Rashmi and her family for an amazing stay just a stone’s throw from Weligama Beach. The room felt cozy and comfortable, and it had everything we needed. The minibar even came pre‑filled with six bottles of water, which was perfect for our three‑night stay. Rashmi’s family were incredibly kind, welcoming, and friendly—every time we returned to the accommodation, Mum & Dad greeted us with big smiles. The family’s warmth was truly beautiful. And the breakfast? It was plentiful and delicious—Rashmi is an excellent cook! I’d definitely book here again.
