“Disappointing surrounding”
Friendly staff. Food was very good. Rooms were clean. Beach was overloaded with waste. Pool was turbit. Next to coal power station and windmills

We spent our first night in Sri Lanka here, a solid alternative to Negombo if you can handle the drive after landing. The welcome was great, the staff really warm and helpful, and the rooms are excellent. Breakfast was good and plentiful, but we would have liked a Sri Lankan breakfast instead of eggs, sausage, and toast for our first day.

We relaxed for a week at Melheim Beach Resort. The rooms were comfortable. I heard someone mention cold showers, but if that happens just ask them to turn on the hot water heater, which we did, and the showers were very nice and hot. The staff were very helpful. It was quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed beach walks, swimming in the pool, and a day trip in a Tuk Tuk up the peninsula. The trip included a tour of the Dutch Fort, which is amazing, a visit to the fishing boats, a sighting of the lighthouse, a drive around Puttalam Lagoon, and a stop at the unusual Catholic Church called Saint Ann’s, which has an interesting pirate history. Mostly, we loved the people running the resort. The chef is a trained professional cook; we especially loved his fish and seafood, but everything he made was wonderful. Ms. Maheshi works the reception but does so much more; she is so sweet and wonderful. Mr. Attanayake is the manager and works very hard to make each person feel welcomed. They truly focus on each person’s needs and do everything to make their time at Melheim Beach Resort feel special, which is exactly what we needed. Please do not expect to swim in the ocean during June, July, and August; the wind is strong and the water adds more paraphernalia on the shore daily. Note: the resort is nicely protected from sand and wind.

The management is very caring but shows no respect; don't bring children. The location is good.
