Cowbridge is a lively little town in the Vale of Glamorgan with a long, wide street full of shops and pubs, and The Bear is a solid place to stay and soak it all in. The place buzzes with locals drinking and eating, plus guests, creating a warm, cheerful, relaxed vibe, and the staff are just as good. The bar serves excellent local ale, and the room was spacious and comfortable. We’ve stayed here several times before and always enjoy it. Breakfast at Pennyfarthings—run by the same company—across the road is excellent, whether you choose Continental or the Full Glamorgan. The Bear Hotel isn’t a new building; some parts are very old, which is part of the Cowbridge experience. It’s not perfect, but there was nothing I really didn’t like.
