This 3‑star hotel is pretty nice, and the location is great, as many travelers note; we could walk all around the center and everything we needed was within 10‑15 minutes, in a lovely part of town. The staff were all friendly, professional, helpful, and available. The breakfast buffet offered a decent variety—similar to most places we stayed in France, a touch more extensive than some, with excellent quality items that were kept refilled. The Afternoon Tea was a nice touch, especially since it’s not usually offered; theirs was simple but a pleasant break after a day of walking the city. The beds were comfortable with nice linens. We stayed in two different rooms and were surprised by the differences: the first room felt very new and had a large shower but was a bit cramped. We had requested a room with a bathtub, but none were available that night; the staff noted it and when a room opened up the next day we could see it. It felt like an older room based on the large sink and tub (which weren’t new), but it was much more spacious and better laid out, so we moved up one floor. There is some room for improvement, but mostly minor things: the mirror in the “new” bathroom didn’t light up well, so you were getting ready in a dim room with only a little overhead light in the shower. Like many hotels now, there aren’t enough towel racks or places to hang or place your toiletries to keep them out of the way—one towel rack for two people seems insufficient, or worse, no towel rack at all. Maintenance seemed a bit lacking. The hotel has a lift, but it only worked the first day we were there. Two days without a working lift in a 3‑star hotel is not acceptable, especially when you have large backpacks or heavy suitcases, which many guests had. The tile in the shower and tub in our room badly needed to be re‑grouted, as there were gaps between tiles and some areas needed cleaning from buildup. After moving to a room with a bathtub, the spigot for the tub didn’t work! The front desk tried to help but was unable, and it was after 6 pm when we discovered it. So, all we had was a shower for the two nights we were in that room. C’est la vie, but if you have a tub it should be usable.

The location was excellent, close to the Gare and the Place de la Comédie. The room facilities were good. The breakfast was good. It exceeded my expectations.

The daily afternoon tea was a very nice gesture and brightened our slightly rainy arrival day. The size of the room was positive, as was the fact that the double room’s furnishings finally matched the situation, giving two people two armchairs for a cozy rest. Breakfast was good, the staff friendly and helpful. The room was functionally arranged. The lighting in the room, especially the bathroom, was too weak: the ceiling light in the bathroom is definitely insufficient for makeup or shaving. The toilet in a wall cabinet with a sliding door lacked a ventilation device and, as is often the case in older French hotels, a small washbasin.
