“Beautiful on the Outside, Underwhelming Where It Counts”
The hotel’s décor is nice, and the jazz playing on the terrace adds a lovely touch to the atmosphere. However, the experience was extremely disappointing given the price and reputation. From the moment we arrived, the staff seemed uninterested in basic hospitality—no greeting, no “welcome,” just a curt “Credit card and ID.” The valet was similarly unfriendly and appeared annoyed when I asked about parking. For a hotel that markets itself at this level, the lack of warmth and professionalism was shocking. The room, while well‑decorated, was the only bright spot; we found cobwebs around the windows, a dirty toilet, and peeling paint on the ceiling—issues I might overlook at a budget property, but not when paying several hundred dollars per night. The situation was even more disheartening because this was a stop on our honeymoon and we chose this hotel for its reputation. We also stayed at the Hampton Inn on Jekyll Island during our trip and, frankly, preferred that experience—the service was warmer and the overall stay more enjoyable.
