The inn was brand new, with a shared living room and free fresh fruit on the table, a kettle to boil water, a fridge, a TV, tea bags, and coffee. The owner’s wife made breakfast every morning. The private rooms were huge and stayed cool at night. The inn was tucked in a lane, but a ten‑minute walk over the river brings you to a main road with a supermarket. The owner’s son was there that day and sent me a message to confirm which car I was taking and roughly what time I’d arrive. He spoke English and Chinese, so communicating in Chinese was fine.
