“Disappointing stay unclean, run-down room with no electricity or hot water, and being asked for a tip after checkout mad”
The location was perfect, but the stay didn’t meet expectations. The room was dirty, dark, dingy, and clearly run‑down—definitely not what a 4‑star should feel like. The bed was on wheels and kept moving, which was uncomfortable. We had no electricity for an entire day and no hot water for showers, which was very disappointing. After checkout, we received a message asking for a tip, followed by a phone call, which felt inappropriate and made us uncomfortable. Overall, the property didn’t feel 4‑star and we wouldn’t stay again.
The staff—Janaki, Naveen, Sampath, and Chandrau—were always ready to help, and the location is amazing. The property isn’t maintained well and needs some work here and there to host guests in a manner they deserve.
The spot is super quiet right on the beach and only a short stroll to the restaurants.
“Beste accommodatie met zwembad direct aan strand en zee”
The location is great—right on the beach, not in the busiest part of Weligama, and not too far from the shore. There’s a lovely pool in a beautiful garden, and at the end of the path you get straight to the beach and sea. Only three rooms have large terraces, and the staff and manager go above and beyond for you. The Wi‑Fi in the room was extremely bad.
“Horrible .Great location”
The location was excellent and breakfast was good, but we had to wait 45 minutes for the chef to arrive. We were the only guests staying there. It was advertised as a four‑star hotel on the website, but it felt barely a three‑star. We were very disappointed and took many photos. The hotel was very tired and old. The balcony banister was falling down and heavily eroded; pillows were mouldy; there was no mattress protector on a very tired mattress; paint on the walls was patchy; a pipe in the bathroom was held together by sticky tape; mould was on the bathroom walls; there was no hot water; animal excretions were under the hand basin. We paid $134.41 AUD per night as recommended—only $65 short of what we paid at Le Grand Galle, which we couldn’t fault. The pool was murky. We booked several hotels, and this one failed miserably. I’d like someone to contact me so I can send photos. My booking confirmation was 6021515110, Pin Code 0137, which will have my contact details attached.
