We loved the house’s character—it’s a very authentic Japanese house. It’s next to the beach, but beach access is limited by the tide. Still, we really enjoyed the home’s energy. Because it’s on the main road, car noise can be heard, but it didn’t stop us from sleeping. We couldn’t find any restaurants nearby, but we did find a self‑served shop, a small supermarket, and a mochi shop.

The place had all the essentials and was a solid spot for exploring Kumano and the surrounding area, but the main drawback was the loud main road just beyond the pretty garden, with the noise reflecting off the tsunami barrier; it was quieter at night, though large trucks could still rattle you awake.
