“Pas un 5 étoiles avec endroit gâché par une ambiance d’agression du porte monnaie”
The place looks stunning, with a pleasant pool and beachside vibe, and the jungle tents were comfy; breakfast was a hit. The staff, however, were dressed like British safari guides and the atmosphere felt disconnected from Bali, giving off a “golden prison” vibe, and nothing was arranged to explore the area—no taxi booking for the city center 20 minutes away in the afternoon, leaving only overpriced organized tours. A free shuttle (the “wagon à bestiaux”) ran to Pemuteran at 10 am and 4 pm, and when we left with another six‑person group, they charged a hefty fee for Bali for everyone after 6 pm. Activities were pricey, like the expensive excursion to the opposite island, while the nearby beach offered a cheaper alternative three or four times cheaper. Also, the small beach shack became our home, and there was no snorkeling gear readily available.
