“Not like in pictures. Poor maintenance.”
The village in Sri Lanka was pretty. It’s fine if you just need a room, but nothing else. One room had a half‑open bathroom with no hot water or mirror. Those flaws ruined the stay. We were offered food for an extra cost, but we didn’t order it. The hot water was eventually provided.
There’s a lot to say. The property is outdated and poorly maintained, nothing like the pictures. We booked three rooms, but only one bathroom had a hot water shower, and the flow was very weak. A snooker/pool table was shown in the photos; when we asked to play, they said the cues were broken. No mirror in one room; when asked, they said it was broken the day before and gave us a small mirror to put on a table. There were no tea or coffee facilities. On request, they provided hot water. The last few hundred meters of road leading to the property were severely damaged, not suitable for a car or minivan. My vehicle’s tyre was cut by a large stone on the road, so a high‑clearance vehicle is needed. The towels were very old, hardly suitable as a rug. The bathroom had a used piece of soap. I booked this place with high expectations after seeing the nice images and reviews, but in reality, nothing matched.
