The location was indeed very good, a quiet spot in the middle of nature. The lack of cleanliness was annoying, the bathroom had a very bad smell, the bath and face towels smelled strong as if they weren’t well washed, the shower support was broken so I had to hold the shower. These are points that could improve because the place is very pleasant and the room is very good.

I booked a room knowing I’d have a car, and it turned out to be a solid choice, especially if you’re planning hikes or a quick trip to Funchal. The place had everything you’d expect, and the staff were always ready to help. The only downsides were a few inconveniences: the bathroom door had no lock, the toilet had a problem, and the front‑door lock was hard to open.

The location is good and the price is reasonable, but the room feels a bit basic. The bed is old and the mattress is hard. The shower handle required a lot of effort, and you had to wait about two minutes for the water to heat up.

This hotel is a great escape from the busy city centre, with a lovely natural hike right across the street—just follow Lavada’s path through the eucalyptus forest. The restaurant bar, Restaurante dos Eucalyptos, is a short walk downhill and comes highly recommended by the staff; we loved the BBQ, omelettes, salad, and beer, all at very reasonable prices. We really enjoyed our stay. The only issue was the strong scent of cleaning product, which we managed by keeping the door open to ventilate. The keys for our unit’s steel shutter doors were a bit tricky, but we were able to lock the inner doors without problem.
