The spot is just outside town, super quiet, and Irene handled check‑in smoothly and was easy to talk to; I genuinely think this is the best place to stay in Coober Pedy. Irene built the property herself and thought of every detail. I’d highly recommend it for an authentic dug‑out experience.

We loved everything about Irene and Mick’s Dugout B&B. We hired a 4WD from Adelaide, stopped overnight at Port Augusta, and then drove to Coober Pedy. Irene met us in person, something quite rare these days. She was very friendly and helpful, suggesting places to visit during our 3-night stay. We were fascinated, impressed and intrigued by the accommodation’s underground buildings, built by Mick and Irene. To say the temperature was comfortable in the heat is an understatement. The fit out and creature comforts are exemplary. We could not ask for more. Extremely quiet, and private, looking out to the desert, you felt like you were the only people for miles. Thank you Irene and Mick, for sharing your oasis with us. There was nothing to dislike about the property

The view was stunning, breakfast was lovely, the property had everything you could want, and Irene was full of local knowledge and very friendly. Firewood was supplied so we could relax outside and enjoy the peace.

The place is amazing to stay at and I loved it; underground living in luxury. The road in feels like driving through a mine site (it’s Coober Pedy, so that’s expected) and there are still construction sites next door, but that’s part of the charm of Coober Pedy. It didn’t distract from the accommodation. I’m not sure you’ll find a better place to stay here. It’s a little more expensive than elsewhere, but it’s worth it. An unforgettable experience.
