A charming small hotel with a beautiful garden; however, the room I was assigned wasn’t the one I had booked, and while it was clean it felt cold.

Everyone on the staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was tasty, and the gardens at the back were lovely; an upstairs room with a garden view is a must‑try. I would have preferred real milk for tea instead of the plastic UHT option that most hotels use, so having a self‑serve milk in the communal fridge on the landing was a nice touch, but it wasn’t refilled often.

The whole experience was an absolute delight, though the traffic on the road from the motorway was a slight issue.

We stayed in a lovely building in a great setting, and parking was straightforward with an EV charger available; once inside, Lucy greeted us with a helpful and positive attitude. We opted for a less expensive room because we were only there for one night, and it was just the right size for the two of us and our dog. The room overlooked the lovely back garden, where we later relaxed with a beer and a wine. The evening meal was excellent, and we chose to sit in the bar, eating with our dog curled up on the floor; the atmosphere was so relaxing that it made for a great evening. Breakfast was equally good, nicely served with many homemade or locally sourced products. It was a great short stay, and we will definitely consider this hotel again if we visit the area.
