Mavi Surf Hotel Dominical

This surf hotel is fantastic, offering everything you need. It’s a 5‑10 minute walk from the beach, restaurants, board rentals, and a supermarket. Breakfast was also very nice. Max was incredibly helpful, always happy to answer questions and went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed for my stay. I would definitely recommend a visit if you’re coming to Dominical.

“Great stay at Mavi.”

The location is great—walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and a grocery store. The hosts were awesome, and breakfast was on par with expectations. Nothing to complain about!

“Amazing vibes, comfy spot, great waves.”

Massimiliano is an amazing host, a superb surf guide, and an absolute joy. The property is pristine and situated in a great spot, and the breakfast is wonderful. Dominical is a charming little beach town, and Mavi feels like a hidden gem where you can unwind and focus on what really matters: catching a barrel during a summer south swell. Nothing to complain about!

The place was spotless and the host was friendly, but the reviews turned out to be misleading – there are no 99 % positive scores, all of them date from 2026, and we fell for that. It was our seventh stay in Costa Rica and the price was far too high; breakfast was average and even had mold on the cheese, while cockroaches showed up in the bathroom. Ongoing construction both beside and inside the building made us uncomfortable, and the highway just 150 m away could be heard constantly. We had hoped for a nice finish to the trip, but left disappointed.

Breakfast arrived on time and was tasty every day, featuring fresh fruit, coffee, juice, and several healthy options. Max, the owner, will bring a tray to your room on a day when you need to leave before 7.
