The location was good and breakfast was okay, and the owner was polite and helpful over the phone, but it was very difficult to communicate with the staff at check‑in because they only spoke Sinhalese and no English; the check‑in process was frustrating and time‑consuming mainly because of the language barrier and payment issues. The shower knob was broken and the bathroom mirror wasn’t properly secured.

We left after just 2 hours; the room was dirty, very noisy, and we knew we had a 12‑hour flight to London the next day, so we couldn’t sleep with the conditions—deep cracks in the walls, no duvet or pillows, a missing ceiling panel that made rain sound like thunder, and overall it wasn’t clean. Not suitable for human stay; never mind renovation, just knock it down and salt the ground.

The room was spacious, the price was good, and the shops and restaurants nearby were convenient. The downside was that the shower had hot water problems and there was no blanket.

It takes 15 minutes walking from the airport. The Chinese staff didn’t speak English, wasn’t very friendly, and told us there was no breakfast because we arrived early, even though it was included in the price.
