The spot was a nice little place with a cosy room, but it just doesn’t have much atmosphere.

I have previously dined there, had a wine tasting and also a beer tasting. It is a working vineyard though an island of relative calm and the wines, beers and catering are excellent. There are many other venues that are a relatively short distance from Maya Maya and it can be used as a base from which those other venues can be visited. The card key provided to guests enables 24 hour access to both the accommodation and private parking close to it

The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious, with a large bathroom and plenty of mirrors, but the desk area was very small and the price feels astronomical for what you get.

The setting is beautiful with a great range of dining options, from fine dining to casual picnic spots. The Maya Maya complex is a short walk from the main winery and dining venues, but it feels sterile, has poor acoustics, and the noise from other guests’ doors and conversations is easily heard. It also doesn’t make use of the gorgeous surroundings. The executive suite’s bed sits only on a mezzanine level, making nighttime trips to the bathroom risky; the large king bed is comfortable and offers views of the Swan River, but the balconies get no natural sun in winter and there are no views of the stunning vines behind the complex. Another drawback is that it sits on the flight path from Perth Airport, with flights starting as early as 6 am and continuing non‑stop for a while, so earplugs were offered. Despite all that, a winter overnight stay in the lower bedroom en‑suite would be fine for a day exploring the valley. A meal at the Wild Swan Restaurant was excellent, the pub served good food, the Mandoon wines were very good, and the prices were reasonable.

The room was clean and the location suited us, but the bed was hard and uncomfortable.
