Riverside – technically it should be called “Lakeside.” I booked a room for three nights because it’s on the edge of Phuket town and I needed to run errands there. The pictures looked good, but the so‑called room with a living area and a bedroom was a total letdown. On the bright side, opening the terrace window directly to the lake and the good mattress helped. The room was small, and at night it was extremely noisy because a restaurant 100 m away plays loud live music from 18:00 to 2 a.m. daily. The second door in the room is only 1.70 m high, so it’s dark at the entrance. I’m 1.84 m tall and hit my head three times hard, so I got insured. The toilet door is made of aluminium with a sharp edge underneath; if you’re not careful you can seriously cut your feet.

There’s a beautiful view and a clothesline for wet laundry, but it’s inside a workshop. You have to pay in cash; there’s no card terminal.

Very friendly, very clean, but it’s close to Party Street, so it gets a bit noisy in the evenings.

The facility is a bit farther from the center but you can get there by taxi. A few shops and restaurants are nearby, and overall the place is nice on the river. It was loud in the evening, but it was Saturday, so maybe there were events at a nearby restaurant.
