The location was great, but a cooked breakfast would have been nice.
We travelled by bicycle and it took us longer than expected; the chef was apparently due to finish at 5pm but we arrived around 5.30 and he stayed on to cook our evening meal, so we changed quickly and enjoyed a delicious meal. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable, but there was no option for a cooked breakfast, only cereals were available in our room, giving it a 9.0/10.
“First night was appalling. Total lack of communication by management”
Room was OK, clean and tidy. When we arrived at the hotel to book in, we were not told that there would be a party for young adults that night. We arrived back at the hotel around 8.30, after being at a conference all day, to the sound of extremely loud music. The room we were given was on top of were the music was. We complained, and were moved to another room, which didn't make much difference. By 1pm I went to down to find out how much longer it would be going on for, to be told it was finishing soon. We should have been told, either when booking the room or on the day, that there was going to be a party. I had to push to get a refund. The communication was poor by the hotel. I contacted for further help with the matter, to which we got a refund of a £100 back, which took a month. As an after note, we had booked 2 nights. The second night another couple complained about the accommodation and received a refund of £30. Would not stay there again
“Great stay in cute countryside inn”
I liked the setting and the staff.
The dinner was decent, but breakfast was a joke: a croissant and a box of cornflakes were left outside the room for pickup in the morning. How were we supposed to eat cornflakes without a bowl, milk, or a place to sit? The room faced a noisy, busy road that stayed loud all night. Trying to sleep with the windows open in the recent warm weather was impossible. On the morning of departure, there was no check‑out facility, the door to the bar was locked, and we had to exit via a fire escape that required crossing a poorly maintained roof—none of this was mentioned at check‑in. The pub was fine, but the accommodation was a disaster.
