I’ve visited 49 countries, and Mirador Playa Cristal Tayrona ranks among the most magical places I’ve stayed. The vistas are breathtaking, everything was spotlessly clean, and the nighttime calm is indescribable—I slept like a baby. As a solo female traveler, what moved me most was how Celino, Naydu, and Mayra made me feel safe and genuinely cared for. Everyone was warm, attentive, and I never felt alone. Staying here amplified the entire Playa Cristal experience. I loved greeting the fishermen and the ladies selling ceviche, sipping drinks on the beautiful beach, and watching the sunset. Afterwards I’d head back up for my arroz con camarones, which I literally ate every night, and my wine. I miss my arroz con camarones! I truly enjoyed the food and wine while overlooking the view and chatting with abuelo Celino. Hearing his stories and how he turned this beautiful place into his dream made everything even more special. This isn’t just a hotel; it becomes part of your Tayrona adventure, and a little piece of it stays with you when you leave. ❤️🇨🇴

The location is amazing, and the fact that tourists leave the beach around 4 pm lets you enjoy it all to yourself. The exotic fish literally swim right at your feet once you’re in the water—it’s magical. The welcome and breakfast are excellent. The only caveat is that the hotel is hard to reach (which also adds to its charm), but that means extra costs (private taxi from Santa Marta, boat to get to Playa Cristal). You should budget accordingly and stay at least two nights to fully enjoy this magical place.

The food was amazing, the beach was amazing as it’s great for snorkeling, it’s very secluded as you have a private beach in the evenings. The staff is super nice and helpful. During the day the beach is super crowded by day-tourists and the trip to get to the beach as well as the accommodation is super expensive

The location is incredible, tucked among trees with sea views. It’s rustic yet comfortable, quiet and extremely safe. Playa Cristal is safe for swimming and snorkeling. Our kids, 16 and 10, could go to the beach on their own. Celino, Ivan, Paula, and Naydu looked after us very well during our stay and made us feel like family. They took us on an afternoon walk within Tayrona National Park to see wildlife and meet locals. The park is amazing, with beautiful forest and beaches, and there are few tourists at this time of year (July). It’s a place to kick your shoes off and completely disconnect. What a dream! Nothing comes to mind.
