Super 8 by Wyndham Independence Kansas City

“Great price! Comfortable setting! Awesome staff!”

The staff was great! Marie at the front office worked her magic so we stayed in the same room for all 14 days. Sidney did an outstanding job cleaning and prepping our room, and Ms. Belle made early‑morning breakfast a delight with her welcoming presence and her biscuits and gravy specialty! The hotel itself is a bit old, but it’s comfortable and well worth the reasonable price. The bed was comfortable, the shower water hot and enjoyable, and the amenities (TV, microwave, refrigerator, safe, hair dryer) made our stay convenient. This was our third fall vacation at this hotel. The location is perfect for us—right in the center of all the places we visit.

“I only stayed because it was pet friendly”

The staff was friendly and the hotel was pet friendly. There was a virtual kiosk instead of in‑person customer service, and the lady needed help. I still haven’t received my deposit back, and the place smelled like a sewer the whole time I was there. I was told I’d be charged if my towels were dirty or stained.

“We decided NOT to stay, we didn't feel comfortable staying at this hotel”

We never stayed here because the hotel was in terrible condition; we chose another place instead. The building was shabby, and next to it a condemned hotel housed homeless people and cats in empty rooms. When we asked to see a room, the bed sagged in the middle and the carpet was visibly dirty. The bathroom was also poor, with peeling ceiling that looked moldy. Outside, the parking lot was grimy, filled with a few homeless folks and littered with empty beer cans and other trash. We felt unsafe and decided not to stay.

“It was irritating”

The property was decent and fairly clean, but the staff were incredibly rude. They didn't return my deposit immediately like most places, and they didn't tell me the pool was closed until after I paid. The staff attitude was the main downside.

I really didn't like anything about it. Well for starters they had an AI robot thing to check in and check out and you can't hardly ever understand them then I went and asked for a couple forks for my kids because hey they needed to eat and they told me no I'm not allowed to have any but then the rooms smell like they had mold and I just wouldn't recommend it and they never open the pool ever so even though at least a pool on the website you can't use it
