The hotel’s location and the staff’s welcome were great; however, there was no lockable wardrobe or small safe, and I would have liked more egg options, like scrambled eggs.

The staff were very kind, attentive and helpful; the room was clean and the breakfast was generous. Even though the hotel is in a busy city, the nights are very quiet, so we slept well and rested. Parking was tough, but that was expected because we were busy preparing for the rum race. Nicolas at reception was fantastic; a car had just left and he was waiting for us at that spot, right in front of the hotel entrance.

I liked the location in the old town near the fortifications and the quirky décor, but the street noise was overwhelming and the windows didn’t help; the bathroom smelled damp, the pipes were exposed, and the breakfast area was tiny and cramped, with window seats only for families—why? The price felt too high for the comfort offered, yet after lodging a complaint I was refunded for two nights; I then found a better room 100 m away for half the price.
