Pousada de Ourém - Fátima

The staff were all friendly and helpful, from the manager to the front‑desk team, showing great courtesy and attending to every request. The lodge itself is gorgeous and spotless, and breakfast is superb with freshly scrambled eggs and bacon made just for us, a wide selection of warm bread and fresh juices. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. We stayed on a holiday when no nearby restaurants were open, so we had to drive a few kilometres to Ourém for dinner; the lodge didn’t blame us and even recommended an excellent restaurant in the village.

“Cuidado com as expectativas…”

The location is fine and the breakfast is decent. The female staff were friendly but didn’t speak or understand Portuguese, and for most of the stay there were no employees present, giving a sense of insecurity and lack of support. The facilities feel old‑fashioned, and the bathroom supplies were almost empty in every bottle. It’s far below the quality of the lodges I’m used to; a real disappointment.

The location and breakfast were fine. The rooms and common areas need renovation; the pillows were very uncomfortable and the hair dryer was weak.

For what was offered, the stay felt too expensive: because I had a dog, I wasn’t allowed in the main building but in a nearby one, I was charged 30 € for the pet and they didn’t give me the usual treat box with sweets that other lodges in Viseu offer.
