The reception was welcoming, my room was comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent. The hotel didn’t offer an evening meal; that might not have mattered if there were plenty of other places to eat, but on that Sunday many were closed. I couldn’t get the shower to produce water! Later I found a printed guide (apparently heavily used) in the information folder, but even then I couldn’t get it to work.

The rooms were a good size, the beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was great.

The hotel was lovely, the staff were welcoming and friendly, and it’s set in the centre of Moffatt, which is very pretty. We were upgraded to Room 1, a lovely, spacious and well‑equipped room. The public areas were nicely decorated with pretty gardens, and the breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately, my dinner that evening was poor; I complained and wasn’t charged, thankfully. My husband’s dinner was fine, so maybe the chef had a bad evening.
