This was the highlight of my Japan tour. The welcome was nothing short of amazing; it felt a bit awkward at first because it’s not what I’m used to, but everything was genuine. The rooms were traditionally styled with bamboo mats yet still had all modern comforts. The onsen was wonderful and I recommend taking the dinner and breakfast too. It’s an experience like no other – simply fantastic. Nothing could be better.

I fell in love with this ryokan. Out of the four places we stayed in Japan, this one stood out the most. The rooms were roomy and had private bathrooms, and the futons and duvets were incredibly comfy—especially the fluffy, light duvets. The gender‑divided onsens were a highlight; every time we went, no one else was there, so it felt almost private. It’s just a 15‑minute walk from Kyoto station, which made getting there a breeze. The staff were amazing; the family running the place—Yayoi, Chika, and Kenji—along with Nakai, kept checking on us and welcomed us with warmth. We’re already looking forward to returning, and we highly recommend the kaiseki meal for a taste of local, seasonal cuisine.

The service and hospitality were truly exceptional. A big thank you to the staff for their kindness and helpfulness. The meal offered by the hotel is absolutely worth trying—it’s an experience you won’t want to miss. Nothing to criticize.
