“Lovely food and staff, but tired rooms.”
It’s a lovely old‑style village pub/inn with a modern twist and a brilliant location. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was superb! We stopped in room 5 and it was tiny. Overall, the decor was nice and modern but tired, with lots of scuffs on the walls and stains on the carpet. There was no proper wardrobe to hang clothes—just a rail and a shelf—directly in front of the full‑length mirror, rendering it useless because our clothes covered it. When I tried to move our clothes to see in the mirror, the hangers fell because the plastic clips had seen better days. There wasn’t enough room to store anything. There was no area where I could sit and do my hair and makeup; I had to stand in the bathroom area and use the bathroom mirror, but there wasn’t any shelf to put my things on, so I had to lower the toilet seat and use that as a makeshift shelf. The bathroom was tiny but adequate. The shower’s water pressure wasn’t great, and the sink was stained yellow. The TV had a crack, and the inside of the bathroom door had a hole. I took pictures and showed the lady at the desk when checking out. She said she knew about the TV, which I found disappointing considering we’d paid just short of £300 for two nights.
