The hidden hot spring vibe in the mountains was great, and even though I only booked breakfast, it felt lavish and delicious from the start, especially the freshly cooked rice; the only downside was the presence of stink bugs, which I understand is unavoidable in that area.

It was quiet, but I wished there was a smoking area.

What a wonderful place! The location is fantastic, a very relaxing spot in the mountains, right next to a small ski station called Sanlavia with a sea view, and the forest‑centered onsen is very pleasant. The yukatas are super comfortable and soft, Sanseikan looks even better in person than in photos, the traditional breakfast was divine, and the hotel staff took great care of us. It’s a little haven of peace away from the bustle of Noboribestu. Run there 🙂 No negatives. Just note that in winter some passes close after 5 pm, so you’ll need to use Route 2 to the south.
