“Very happy to have stayed here.”
The place is in a great spot if you want to be near the ghats, the Brown Bread Bakery downstairs serves good food, and the staff are helpful and friendly.

The rooms were very clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated, and the staff were kind; we heard live classical Indian music on the cute rooftop one night, and the restaurant/bakery was good. However, air conditioning wasn’t included in our booking (we didn’t know that), so it wasn’t on when we arrived late at night and couldn’t be turned on until the manager came in the morning, making our first night very hot; the bathroom is cramped, so the shower water gets the toilet and the whole bathroom very wet.

The location and comfort were good, the room was clean, but privacy between the room and the bathroom was poor and the space was quite small.

The staff were lovely, especially the chap who picked me up from Sonapura Crossing when the Uber driver couldn’t go any further, and the guy from the guest house helped talk to the driver on the way from the airport and drove me and my bags on his moped through the narrow lanes to the Guest House; the location is perfect for the ghats. The main course meals I had weren’t good, but breakfast was fine; the room could use a bit of TLC but it’s great value.

It was cheap and the location was good, and the staff were friendly, but everything else was terrible: the place was filthy, old, and in desperate need of renovation (just a coat of paint and a decent scrub would help); mice ran around the corridors, the bathroom smelled of sewage, the extractor fan didn’t work, the bed was essentially a plank of wood, used products from previous guests were in the bathroom showing it hadn’t been cleaned, the rooftop was very dirty, breakfast was expensive and not worth it, and on the last day a poo appeared in the dining area that no one cleaned and it got tracked throughout the building; definitely wouldn’t go back or recommend it, not fit for purpose. The only reason we booked was because it was recommended in the Lonely Planet India guide, but that was based on knowledge from 20 years ago.
