The spot’s close to the station, which is great. However, we shared the hallway with another room and the bathroom door noise kept echoing, making sleep tough. There was also a cigarette smell and the bathroom looked neglected, lacking cleanliness and upkeep. With a bit more focus on cleaning and soundproofing, it could improve significantly.

The location was quiet. The common room looked like a cellar, with only a microwave, a kettle, and a fridge. An old, shabby freezer and other items were left around.

The location is superb, right next to the train and bus stops, and walking to the Nikko National Park (sublime) is another nice option. The big studio, called the “family suite,” is outstanding with an amazing mountain view, a large glass wall, and a balcony. It’s very bright, the bed is super comfortable, and there’s plenty of storage, a kettle, a microwave, and a fridge. Nearby is the “le lion d’or” shop for groceries: a wide variety of fresh, inexpensive dishes. The studio is very quiet and the staff are extremely helpful. I stayed for 7 nights and the hardest part was leaving. I loved it!

This is the best cheap accommodation in Nikko. It’s a very comfortable hostel offering double beds for two people. The location is ideal—directly opposite Tobu Nikko station and close to local bus stops. You can reach Yumoto-onsen or Kinugawa in about an hour. The staff are friendly and smiley. We stayed for 7 nights and they were always helpful. The mixed dormitory room has beds with thick curtains, 3 showers, 2 toilets, a corridor with 2 sinks, and a large room with tables and seats for dining. They change bed sheets and towels every day! The towels are small but thick. Other amenities include a big fridge, a microwave, and a thermopot. We love this place and will return when in Nikko.
