The room itself was spotless, which I appreciated. Unfortunately the place is more than ten blocks from the lake and the little town, so in winter the walk felt like a slog. The host seemed to micromanage the shared spaces – vacuuming at 8 a.m. woke us up, and the laundry machine in the communal bathroom ran at 11 p.m. for two nights, shaking the wall and making a lot of noise. All in all, not a pleasant stay.

The apartment was tidy and the host kept things neat, but the value for money left a lot to be desired. At night the neighbor’s washing machine kicked in, and the windows wouldn’t open on a very windy evening, making the place feel cramped and stuffy.

I got a spacious, nicely decorated room with a comfy bed, and the host was friendly – even had a sweet cat around. The flat is close to Lugano, and I couldn’t think of any real drawbacks.

The flat was genuinely clean and right in the city centre, which was convenient. However, the owner lived in the same apartment and was constantly popping in, which made us feel uneasy. On top of that, a tomcat kept lounging on the dining table among the dishes.
