“Haarlem trip”
The spot is fabulous, close to the train station and surrounded by shops, bars, cafés and restaurants. Breakfast was excellent, tasty and filling. The staff were friendly, the room was spacious, the beds were comfortable and cosy. It’s a great base for exploring; Haarlem is gorgeous with its cobbled streets, stunning architecture, canals and rich history. The reception, bar and restaurant areas were tastefully decorated, but our room felt a bit tired and dated and could use an upgrade. The carpet had many stains, the light in the entrance didn’t work, there was no A/C (the fan worked fine), the bathroom ceiling paint was peeling and the extractor fan was broken. The pillows were poor, making my head sweat, especially since it was hot during our stay. The TV stopped working the next day after we arrived, and even after reporting it, it stayed broken for the rest of our stay – apparently all the TVs in the hotel were affected. We had to ask for extra rolls of toilet paper one day because housekeeping didn’t leave any in our room when cleaning.
