If you want a place that feels like home, this is it; from the moment you arrive you’re welcomed with genuine warmth, the bungalow and café are incredibly cozy and relaxing—so much so that you might just stay in a hammock and not explore the island—and every detail is wonderful, making the whole experience exceed expectations, though I was sad to leave.

The reception, setting, calm, and traditional wicker bungalow are all great, but you really need transportation; even though the first street vendors are a 15–20 minute walk along a busy road, and despite the close proximity to Old Lanta, you still need 20–30 minutes by scooter to reach the west coast’s beautiful sandy beaches.

The bungalow is well equipped, clean, and has a large bathroom; the place is quiet and the coffee shop serves tasty small dishes; the staff are attentive and friendly; it’s a 15–20 minute walk to the old town and there are two free bikes on site, but the mattress springs can be felt and it was still quite hot.

Our five‑day stay was absolutely wonderful: the bungalows were clean and had everything you need, the hosts were warm and helpful, we could rent a scooter right there, the bungalows and café sit in a quiet, nature‑filled spot, the food and drinks at Olala were excellent, and Old Town is just a few minutes by scooter—one of the best moments of our Thailand trip.

It was an amazing experience—definitely one of the best places I’ve stayed at. I loved my time at Olala Café and the bungalow; Alan and Richard are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they have a cute cat family; it was my first tiny house stay and I was amazed by how little space you actually need; the bungalows are new, thoughtfully designed, and fully equipped (fridge, fan, etc.); the most magical part was sitting on the terrace at night, listening to jungle sounds and animals, feeling so peaceful—a calm that’s hard to find and that I’ll miss; truly special, and I wish I had stayed longer. I didn’t explore the whole island, but if you’re looking for places closer to the main beaches in Koh Lanta, there are options; being near Old Town is still great, with lovely spots to explore, and a scooter makes island travel easy.
