“Kein Schlüssel, kein Strom. Wir haben unsere Koffer gepackt und sind vorzeitig abgehauen.”
The accommodation is hidden on a jackfruit farm; the interior is neatly furnished and clean, but the exterior looks a bit bare and worn. Thanks to the manager, who tried to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The place is hard to find without GPS or a car, no signs, and the last 100 m are a series of potholes. First impressions included many trash bags, cardboard, a rusty grill, an untidy fire pit—outside was uninviting. Inside felt cozy at first, but there was no power, just a battery that died the next morning while making coffee, meaning no internet, no coffee, no kitchen, cold water, the fridge already non‑functional, and no lights. We sat in candlelight or darkness, passing the time. The only decent restaurant had already closed that evening. The worst part for my partner was that we never received a key, so once we left the house, our belongings were accessible to anyone. The manager could have given us a key but chose not to. The power issue, known days before, was supposed to be covered by the small battery, but no real solution existed. The next morning, two men on motorcycles roamed the property, so we decided to leave early, costing us an extra 75 €. The owner offered a free night as compensation (without power and key, ha! ha!), which was a sly move. Not recommended.
